World's largest research ice breaker ship ready for virtual visits
The research ice breaker ship "Polarstern", from the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI), is now ready for virtual visits. The project was realised in cooperation with AWI and the High School of Bremerhaven in Germany. A 3D virtual visit website is now available.
The ship has research labs and activities in the areas of biology, geology, geophysics, glaciology, chemistry, oceanography and meteorology.
The virtual visit includes six decks of the ship and access to many rooms in the ship. Without any danger of seasickness, the visitor can have a look into the captain's cabin as well as into the research labs and the helicopter landing area.
