NANOYOU - Informing youth about nanotechnologies
NANOYOU is a new project focused on informing youth about nanotechnologies in the EU Member States.
Nanotechnology consists of the development and application of materials and processes at nanoscale. The applications of these nanomaterials and nanotechnologies are yet being discovered and developed offering enormous progress possibilities. But they also may have harmful effects that we must be aware of.
In this context NANOYOU aims to encourage young Europeans to participate in dialogues about the ethical, legal and societal aspects of nanotechnologies. This purpose will be carried out through exhibitions, innovative computer games, online experiments and more activities.
The activities of NANOYOU will approach three main fields related to the theme: Medicine, Environment and Energy and ICT. These fields have been highlighted based on the public concern they generate, their relevance for young people’s interests and the social importance they raise.
The activities will be divided in age groups. Students form 11-13, and 14-18 will be reached through public schools while young people aged between 19 -25 will be able to participate in NANOYOU through special programs offered in science centers.
We will keep informing about the upcoming NANOYOU events on the Xplora portal.
