Search engine: Italian museums

Museionline results from a partnership between Microsoft and Adnkronos Cultura and provides updated information concerning over 3,500 museums. The site aims at enhancing and promoting the Italian cultural heritage worldwide. Besides detailed service information on each museum, Adnkronos Cultura provides information on cultural programmes, exhibitions, and the activities carried out by Italian museums.

Fractals

This site was born in 2000 with the follow goal: to deal with tranformation geometry and fractal geometry. Theory and practice are strictly connected. You can find an amazing repository of examples including all the most famous fractals such as Serpinski's triangle or Koch triadic Island.

Orthographic Projection

A repository of audio/video lessons about fundamental principles of Orthoggraphic projection. It is an attempt to explain geometry using 3D models. The next step could be the translation of the audio contents in other languages. In this perspective we need the collaboration of other teachers who can use this kind of digital models in their classrooms and could involve their pupils recording their version of the audio content. They could also add some exercises they did with a free version of a cad software (open source).

Mental Change: Accelerating into the European future of e-Government of knowledge economy

“Knowledge Economy” in syntheses means to develop an “networking economy” in which the balance of economic value between Knowledge Innovation (Intangible Assets) and Material Goods Production (Tangible Assets) is changing in the strategy of Extended Europe , in favour of the development of the “post industrial society” , based on a strong impulse on knowledge sharing and co-organizative innovation of the infra-structure of European production and market. Considering future focus of global development a critical success factor is regarding the strategy for adding value to the “intangible assets “ because it will form one of the foundation stones of the Future Knowledge Economy.

The secret life of the brain

A David Grubin Production, reveals the fascinating processes involved in brain development across a lifetime. The five-part series, which will premiere nationally on PBS in winter 2002, informs viewers of exciting new information in the brain sciences, introduces the foremost researchers in the field, and utilizes dynamic visual imagery and compelling human stories to help a general audience understand otherwise difficult scientific concepts.

How to build a 3d model

Nowadays, one doesn’t need to be a film maker in order to create a computer animation that illustrates a scientific phenomenon from a didactic point of view; it is possible to document a scientific process in a dynamic way, by time scannings, including also phases of external intervention for the manipulation of the parameters which govern its evolution from the beginning to the end.

The “formerly” and the “later” are connected in a continuous system of relationships that create a dynamic process of actions. And this is an actual procedural algorithm!

But now we must stop to discuss briefly a very important question: graphic algorithms assume entirely different connotations, depending on whether they are produced or only utilized. In the first case, the reproduction of a condition of “creation” implies semiotical, symbolical, logical-deductive, planning and several other problematiques related to the elaboraton of a linguistic pathway, starting from scratch; in the second case, we must face problems of linguistic and conceptual decoding. This means that while the direct productive action has larger potentialities, the utilization guarantees a better comprehension of the didactic processes characterised by a very high degree of complexity.
