Launch of the Metaschool project: Towards Teacher Competence on Metadata and Online Resources
Metaschool (Towards Teacher Competence on Metadata and Online Resources) is a collaborative European project funded by the Comenius programme and focused on improving the in-service training of school teachers and school ICT staff on topics related to digital learning resources.
In general, the project aims to improve teachers’ practice in all areas of their work, combining ICT skills with innovations in pedagogy, curriculum, and school organization.
It also aims at teachers’ use of ICT skills and resources to improve their teaching, to collaborate with colleagues, and perhaps ultimately to become innovation leaders in their institutions.
The main output of the Metaschool will be an innovative training programme of the methodological approaches on how teachers can integrate digital content available on the web with core academic content in lesson plans and increase student participation in classroom activities. The project will develop an online portal which will act as the main “hub” of all the training resources and training scenarios. The portal will serve as distributor of information giving access to large databases of educational content, and as organizer of suitable didactical activities.
