4-6 October 2006: Learning Lab on "Challenging Molecules"
The next Learning Lab organised by the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) will be held from 4 to 6 October 2006 at the EMBL in Heidelberg, Germany. The theme retained for this edition is “Challenging molecules”.
The 3-day course, open to 15 European high-school science teachers, will be run in English.
This training Lab is designed to enable the participant teachers to: - learn why and how scientists study specific molecules with state-of-the-art techniques - perform experiments side by side with scientists to learn the 'tricks of the trade' - get familiar with teaching kits and educational games that present modern concepts and techniques of molecular biology in a proactive approach.
The programme will include seminars by top EMBL scientists; hands-on experiments on DNA and protein technologies; high-tech demonstrations and interactive educational activities.
Course materials and catering will be free of charge. However, participants are expected to meet their own travel and accommodation costs.
