Call for pilot schools
Context:
To raise awareness on environmental issues with youth, the DG Environment of the European Commission wishes to review its website for young Europeans (http://ec.europa.eu/environment/youth/index_en.html). This task was given to an external contractor, Gellis Communications, in partnership with European Schoolnet.
As part of the evaluation process, a market study will be carried out to interview 10 teachers and some 100 children in each of the following countries: Denmark, Lithuania, Greece, Spain, Slovenia, Romania, Netherlands, France, Germany and Czech Republic.
The purpose of this study is to collect the views of young Europeans and their teachers on the current version of the website but also to gather their ideas for the design of a better way to communicate online on environmental issues for the European Commission.
To carry out this mission at local level, we seek to recruit Pilot Schools (one lower, one middle and one high school) in Denmark, Lithuania, Greece, Spain, Slovenia, Romania, France and Czech Republic. Schools will receive a small compensation for their activities and be guided and supported during the process by a national coordinator in their country. Participating schools will also be named in the study which is sent to the European Commission. Schools are free to draw attention to this honour locally (media, parents association, etc.)
For full details on the school-level tasks, please download this file: http://www.xplora.org/shared/data/xplora/pdf/Pilot_School_Responsibilities.pdf
School profile:
The choice of schools should be balanced to include: - General, technical and vocational schools, as well as primary and secondary schools - A broad range of levels in terms of academic quality and achievement; - A wide range of ICT skill levels; - A wide range of involvement in environmental issues (e.g. if your school is an eco-school, has environmental education experience or is even a novice in this area) - A variety of localities (i.e. for each country, one urban, one rural and one suburban); - A range of age groups.
If your school is interested, please email alexa.joyce@eun.org with details of your school including country, age of pupils, and experience in use of ICT and environmental education as soon as possible.
