WONDERS Finals in Finland
The finals of WONDERS (Welcome to Observations, News & Demonstrations of European Research and Science), the first European Science Festival, will take place on 8 and 9 December 2006 in Finland. During these two days, the best activities of the "Carousel of Science," an exchange between about 21 science communication events in Europe, will be rewarded.
The WONDERS Finals are the conclusion of the first ever European Science Festival. During the year 2006, 63 science events have travelled from a country to another, creating networks and fostering new contacts between science communication professionals. Organised by EUSCEA, the WONDERS project aims at promoting science for the general audience in Europe. It is a synergetic effort of various national science events and European organisations active in the field of science communication, such as science weeks, science festivals, science days, science centres and museums and the European science journalists.
From each science event exchange, a winner has been selected by the local audience. The 21 finalists are invited to participate in the finals in Finland, which will be hosted by the science centre HEUREKA. The 21 finalists will present their project, and the European WONDERS 2006 winner will be selected by an international jury.
