Join the “Europe’s Future Nobel Prize Winners” session in the European Parliament in Brussels!

Raise the interest of your students in science and technology careers! After last year’s successful first edition, the 2nd European Innovation Summit will take place from 11 to 14 October this year in the European Parliament in Brussels. Like the 2009 premiere, it will be opened with a session entitled “Europe’s Future Nobel Prize Winners”, aiming to increase students’ interest in science and technology careers. About 200 secondary school students from 14 years onwards from all EU Member States are invited to attend the event; many more will be able to follow it online.

The session will be opened by the EU’s Commissioner for Education and Culture, Androulla Vassiliou. Alejo Vidal-Quadras, Vice-President of the European Parliament, is also expected. They will discuss the interesting possibilities and excellent career prospects that Europe offers in the fields of science and technology. Following that, an actual Nobel Prize Winner (most likely from Israel) will give a much more personal account of what exactly fascinates him about science and what it has meant for his life.

The main part of the session will then see interactive presentations by the next generation of potential Nobel Prize winners: Students who have participated in science and technology-related initiatives and competitions and who have developed interesting projects will be given the chance to present their work to the audience and their peers from all over Europe.

Via EuroparlTV the session will be live-streamed and broadcast to schools throughout Europe. You and your students can be part of the session, come to Brussels to attend in person, watch it live via EuroparlTV or download the session afterwards!

The 2nd European Innovation Summit is organised by Knowledge4Innovation which is an open, independent platform enabling multiple stakeholders of the knowledge and innovation economy to meet and exchange their experiences with the common objective of improving Europe’s innovation performance.
