Chemistry Week 2007
Chemistry Week is a themed week of events, held every two years to promote a positive image of chemistry and increase public understanding of the importance of chemical science in our everyday lives.
The next national Chemistry Week will take place from Saturday, 3rd November through to Sunday, 11th November 2007. This year's theme is Travel. The theme has been chosen to support the RSC's energy and transport campaign of Fuelling the Future, with a particular emphasis on how chemistry offers positive solutions to the energy challenges that travel (and transport) are facing today.
Events are being organised around the UK and Ireland via the RSC's network of 35 Local Sections. In addition, a Travel Roadshow will be visiting various cities around the UK during Chemistry Week. Other activities will include schools demonstration lectures, interactive exhibitions, touring shows and open days.
This year's RSC Bill Bryson Prize - a science communication competition for schools - is being held in conjunction with Chemistry Week also with the theme of travel. Prizes will be presented during Chemistry Week.
