International Stockholm Junior Water Prize

The International Stockholm Junior Water Prize competition aims to encourage young people’s interest in issues concerning water and the environment. The national and international competitions are open to pre-university young people between 15-20 years of age.

H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden is the Patron of the prize.

Aim of the competition
The award is given annually for an outstanding water project by a young person or a small group of young people. With this, the competition seeks to inspire young people to a continued engagement for water and the environment.

Who can participate?
The competition is open to pre-university young people aged between 15 and 20, who have conducted water-related projects focusing on local, regional, national or global topics of environmental, social or technological importance.

How to participate
In all participating countries, the Stockholm International Water Institute co-operates with a national organisation that arranges a national Stockholm Junior Water Prize contest.
The contestants can compete with a practical project in the field of technology, natural and social science using innovative development methods and approaches to solve water problems.

The final

The international final takes place in Stockholm during the World Water Week every August. The winner receives a USD 5 000 award, a blue crystal sculpture and an invitation to the scientific fair WEFTEC in USA.

Deadlines
The written project must be received by the Stockholm Water Foundation no later than 22 June 2007.
