Awards for english and irish science teachers

Do you know a physics teacher or primary science teacher who is cosmically inspiring? Does he or she make science (at the primary level) or physics (at the secondary level) astronomically exciting and challengingly cool?

If so, why not nominate them for an Institute of Physics Teachers' Award? Nominations come from a variety of sources, including headteachers, colleagues, governors, advisers, Institute branch representatives, parents and students.

Selection is by a panel of current and former teachers and there are no restrictions on the number of awards in each category. The awards, sponsored by the Corus company, are just for UK and Ireland citizens. The selection panel is looking for:
 -outstanding teaching of physics,
-how they have inspired pupils and colleagues,
-how they have made physics exciting and relevant effort beyond the call of the timetable,
-coping with frequently revised curricula.
-a minimum of 10 years teaching experience.

Nominations
The nominations are for the 2007 awards. We would particularly welcome more nominations from the primary sector. Any teachers nominated must still be teaching physics/science for the majority of their working time. Good nominations use anecdote and example to bring classroom experiences to life and explain why the teacher makes a difference. Completed nominations forms must be submitted by 17 November 2006.
