Bernat Martinez has been secondary school teacher for more than 15 years and he is now working as a teacher trainer and educational researcher at CEFIRE (Centre for Professional Development & Innovation) in Spain. His PhD thesis is about the design of teaching sequences in elementary astronomy (day/night, seasons). He collaborates with the University of Alicante, coordinating a summer school in astronomy teaching. Expert in multimedia, he is author of a web-based teaching-learning sequence in astronomy (awarded in 2003) and is now working in the development of flash-based sequence (100 top list in 2005 elearning awards). He is webmaster of the ISSUE website, a Comenius 2.1. project which aims to develop teaching sequences, combining research based innovation and the use of ICT. He is now involved in several e-learning activities to promote collaborative work amongst teachers and to deliver online courses as administrator of the ISSUE-CMS Moodle platform. He is also member of the Education committee of UNAWE, an international project aimed to expose economically disadvantaged children to the inspirational aspects of modern astronomy.
