Palmira Ronchi, coordinator

I was born in Bari, Italy, and I got my degree in maths in 1977. Since 1981 I have been a member of the research group in maths didactics at the University of Bari.

I teach maths in a technical high school for programmers where, together with my students, I am the webmaster of the school site (http://www.vivante.it). I also teach part-time in pre-service teacher training courses at the University of Bari.

For the last 20 years I have worked as a tutor on various training and online courses organised by the Italian Ministry of Education's University and Research unit (MIUR). The courses are aimed at introducing information and communication technologies (ICT) in schools.

I collaborate with INDIRE http://www.indire.it (based in Florence, Italy) as an expert for evaluation of didactic software  http://www.bdp.it/software/esperti.htm and maths websites.

I have taken part in international research on the use of ICT in schools (http://www.oecd.org/dataoecd/39/0/2739358.pdf) and I have cooperated with European colleagues on a joint maths project: http://www.vivante.it/CABRI/cluster/Home.htm.

My background and interests are in the fields of maths didactics and the use of new technologies for education, including distance education.
