I have been fortunate to visit students in many schools around the world. Many of them have overcome great obstacles, often grinding poverty, to find a way to school. The children I meet are eager to learn about the world they live in. Your networks will help them achieve their dream to learn within a global community - a community where they can form friendships and work together with others in places near and far.
School networks can also play a major role in helping to achieve the Millennium Development Goals by promoting quality education for girls and boys or by coordinating efforts in schools to combat HIV/AIDS. These are just a few examples, and I am sure you will come up with others.
The global alliance of school networks is an exciting partnership that I hope will bring the benefits of communication technologies to an ever-widening circle of boys and girls.
