Max Planck society opens portal for teachers and students in German
The famous German Max Planck Gesellschaft (MPG) has opened a portal for teachers and students of science. This event comes just in time to celebrate 10 years of MAX, a publication series on public science. The portal covers all areas of science.
In 1995 the first issue of BIOMAX was published, focusing on gene therapy. The goal was to provide teachers and students with current information about a hotly debated topic. There are more than 100 000 subscribers today. This success has inspired the editorial team to reach out into online media, including a virtual library of all past MAX issues.
The main features of the site are: -a “time machine” application to learn the different scientific discoveries in the correct historical time; -scientific sections (physics, chemistry, biology and geography) with thematic articles and reports; -a multimedia section in which you can download and run several scientific animations: from black holes to earth pole reversal.
